New Road Opens to Cyclists and Walkers on Friday!

Tomorrow, September 3rd, the newly constructed road up to the new lake will be open to cyclists and walkers before opening up to motorized traffic! County Road 210 (formally CR 211) will be open from 10 am to 2pm, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2pm.

LAST DAY FOR INPUT!!! La Plata County Community Plan!

La Plata county is in the process of fixing the Comprehensive Community Plan so that it better reflects the reality and values of our county. TODAY August 31st is the last day to provide input! This is a key step in the process and it is our opportunity to let the county know that we cyclists would like to see the county adopt a multi-modal transportation plan. Wanted: Bike Donations for Durango Shelters!

The Volunteers of America is looking for bicycles of all types to be given to people at both shelters in Durango. They need children’s and adult bicycles. They are also hoping to get donations of bicycle parts, tools, a stand, tubes, tires and locks.

All Donations are tax deductible!

Betsy Richards will be able to pick up bicycles and parts within reason in town on Tuesdays or Thursdays. For more information, or to make a donation, please contact Betsy directly at the Volunteers of America Southwest Safehouse at 259-5443.

CR 250 Now Open!

COUNTY ROAD 250 REOPENED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC

Durango, CO – On March 16, 2010, La Plata County closed the 2700 block of County Road 250 to through traffic due to flooding from snow melt. The runoff has decreased and County Road 250 has been reopened to through traffic. County staff will continue to monitor the area as it is subject to additional runoff and potential road closure if the area receives precipitation.
