The Durango Wheel Club will be hosting two training criteriums at the Mercy Medical Center to help DWC members prep for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Criterium. These training criteriums will be held on Sunday April 27th and Sunday May 11th.

You must be a current DWC member to participate in this event! Membership sign-up will be available at registration.

$10 for current 2008 DWC members.
$30 for non-members, includes 2008 annual dues.
$20 for student non-members, includes 2008 annual dues.

This is NOT a USCF sanctioned race. Cash prices for top places will be awarded according to participation.

Please race in the group you usually ride in during the Tuesday group rides. Sandbaggers will not be tolerated!

Schedule for Sunday 4/27/08:
8 am registration
8:15 course open for inspection & practice
9:00 C group, 25 minutes +3 laps
9:45 B group, 25 minutes +3 laps
10:30 B+ group, 40 minutes +3 laps
11:30 A group, 40 minutes +3 laps

Times and groups are subject to change according to participation.

Registration will be held at Mercy Medical Center starting at 8 am. Look for signs to registration. Registration will close 10 minutes prior to the start of each race. Please arrive early so that we avoid a last minute rush!

Any changes or updates will be sent via email and posted here.

The Saturday group ride start time has been moved up to 11 am!

The start location will remain at Bread.

Usually we will have someone on hand to make the group splits, but be prepared to make the group split and choose the ride amongst yourselves!

These rides are intended to be a little less formal (and a bit more social) than our Tuesday group rides.

With most local lodging filled up for Iron Horse Bicycle Classic weekend (May 23-26) we have riders and racers looking for housing. If any members know of any available locations or would be willing to provide host housing for racers and riders please let me know.

I am happy to report that we will start the Wednesday Development & Recovery rides April 2nd, and that we will continue the Saturday group rides for the remainder of the season.

Group rides for Tuesday April 1st:
Group ‘A‘ Valley-Rockwood, meet at Sweenys, group A meets at 4:30 pm!!!
Group ‘B+‘ Valley-Shalona, meet at Sweenys, group B+ meets at 5:30 pm
Group ‘B‘ 550-Trimble-Helens-Elmores, meet at Iron Horse Inn, group B meets at 5:30 pm
Group ‘C‘ TBD, meet at Durango Community Recreation Center, group C meets at 5:30 pm

The Wednesday Development & Recovery ride will start on April 2nd! This ride will meet every Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center at 5:30 pm. Brad Roy has kindly offered to be the ride leader for this ride. He can be reached by email at: gotspokes@yahoo.com

The Saturday group ride has been a huge success! For the last 3 weeks we have enough cyclists to split into 3 different groups according to ability level. We will continue to meet on Saturdays for the remainder of the season.
